Automatic kitting.

Automatic kitting is a feature that automatically downloads specified firmware and configuration files from a device management system to multiple devices.

This feature allows multiple devices to run with the same firmware revision and configuration and connect to the cloud.

This function is useful for initial setup of multiple devices for batch firmware and configuration.

The flow of automatic kitting is as follows. (Click on each item to view the steps.)

Upload a file #

Upload the firmware image file and configuration file to be downloaded to the device for automatic kitting to the Storage Explorer.

1. First, upload the firmware image file. In Storage Explorer, navigate to the Firmware folder.
   
   
   Firmware image files can be downloaded from the following URL
   An account name and password are required to access the site. If you do not know your account name and password, please contact Support.
   *If you are using a browser, please use a browser that can access FTP, such as Internet Explorer.

2. [Click Upload to upload the image file (Zip file) to the Firmware folder.
   
   
3. Image file upload is complete.
   
   
   
4. Then upload the configuration file. In Storage Explorer, navigate to the Configuraiton folder.
   
   
5. [Click “Upload” to upload the target configuration file (Zip file) to the Configuraiton folder.
   
   
   
6. Upload of configuration file is complete.
   

Creating Device Profiles #

Next, create the device profiles required for automatic kitting.

See below for instructions on how to create a device profile.

• Device Profile

Assign device profiles #

Assign the created device profile to the device.

1. ［Search for devices in preparation in the “Device List” and click on “Assign Device Profile” from the “︙” on the right end of the row of the device to which you want to assign a device profile.If the device to which you want to assign a device profile is in use, deactivate the device once before implementing the profile.
   
2. Select the profile created in step 2 and click Confirm to assign the device profile.
   

Batch assignment of device profiles for multiple devices

To assign device profiles to multiple devices at once, you can follow these steps

1. ［Search for devices of the same type that are “ready” in the device list.If the device to which you want to assign a device profile is in use, deactivate the device once before implementing the profile.
   
2. Check the checkbox to the far left of the row for the device to which you want to assign a device profile, then click […] in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click [Assign Device Profile].
   
3. Select the profile created in step 2 and click Confirm to assign the device profile.
   

Unassign device profiles

If a device profile assignment is made in error, the device profile can be unassigned.

1. [Select Device Profile Assignment.
   
   
2. Select [ Not Specified ] and click [ Confirm ] to unassign the device profile.
   

Internet connection for the device #

When the target device connects to the Internet after assigning a device profile in the device management system, the device management system automatically downloads firmware and configuration files.

It may take some time to download the firmware and configuration files. Also, after the download is complete, the device will automatically reboot for updating.

Connect the target device to the Internet.

Please check if the status is “normal” for the device in question.
